A debut CD with the character of a rarity! This special recording introduces the young violinist Lena Neudauer. Together with the German Radio Philharmonic Orchestra of Saarbrücken and Kaiserslautern, conducted by Pablo Gonzales, she plays the complete works for violin and orchestra by Robert Schumann. It is not only Lena Neudauer’s first recording, but also the first recording featuring all of this composer’s works for violin and orchestra, including the rarely performed Violin Concerto as published by Breitkopf & Härtel in the critical edition of 2009, the Cello Concerto arranged for violin by Schumann himself, as well as the “Abendlied” (Evensong) and the Fantasy op. 131 as arranged by Josef Joachim.
On this recording, a very special young musician introduces herself: born in 1984 in Munich, Lena Neudauer started playing violin at the age of three and had already performed in her first concert with an orchestra when she was ten. She attracted international attention early on by performing Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” with the Munich Philharmonic in Munich and Japan at the age of eleven. Only four years later she caused a great sensation by spectacularly winning four prizes at the Leopold Mozart Competition in Augsburg – the First Prize, the Audience Prize, the Mozart Prize and the Richard Strauss Prize for the best interpretation of the Violin Concerto by Richard Strauss. She began her studies with Helmut Zehetmair at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, continuing with Thomas Zehetmair and, most recently, Christoph Poppen. She has also received valuable inspiration from Ana Chumachenco, Felix Andrievsky, Midori Goto, Nobuko Imai and Seiji Ozawa.
